| KOH
TAO - HOW TO GET HERE
TRAIN
Coming from Bangkok, by far the best way to get to Koh Tao is by
overnight sleeper train and speed ferry. In Bangkok you need to
catch the last train at 7.00pm to Chumphon, which will arrive in
time for the ferry.
The
train station in Bangkok is called "Sa-tarnee
Hwalumpong" and any taxi will be able to take
you there. Tickets can be bought at the station and it's advisable
to arrive a couple of hours before.
There is a tourist
information desk at the entrance. The guys there speak excellent
English and will be happy to help you organise your tickets. This
is a free service.
On arrival in
Chumphon at around 6.30am, there are several operators who have
offices directly on the platform. From here you can take a free
transfer to the pier as well as organise tickets. The ferries services
start at 7.00am and the crossing takes just over two hours.
Alternatively,
you can book joint bus+boat tickets online at: http://www.lomprayah.com
AIR
Flights from BKK to Koh Samui leave 10 times daily. The flight takes
just over an hour and then from Koh Samui it's just a short boat
ride to Koh Tao.
*Please
note that in order to catch the boats the same day you will need
to depart from BKK no later than 11.00am. This allows you to catch
either the Lomprayah Catarmaran at 12.30pm or the Sea Tran Service
at 1.30pm.
Tickets and transfers
to the pier can be organised inside Samui Airport.
